SEAA Intercounties & Masters XC Champs – Biggleswade – Sat 12 Dec 2015

Four of our juniors had the honour of representing Middlesex at the South of England Intercounties Cross Country Championships at Shuttleworth (Biggleswade) on Saturday.

The highlight for the club came in the U17 women’s race where Erica Wallace was fourth to score in the Middlesex team. With the Weir sisters of TVH finishing 12th and 13th, it was a strong team and the county won bronze. Nicola Ravenhill also had a fine run, finishing just five seconds behind Erica. Laura Stewart was also selected but was unable to take her place due to injury.

In the U17 men’s race, John Fielding was third Middlesex runner across the line and the team finished sixth out of 12.

Matteo Lamagna won his first county vest in the U13 boys’ race, where Middlesex finished eighth out of 14.

The SEAA Masters Championships were held at the same venue, but our only representatives this year were 48 year old Mark Kencroft and 64 year old Steve Plested. Steve is a regular at the event, but it was Mark’s first taste of veteran competition at a regional level.
