We had seven athletes taking part in the Inter Counties cross country championships at Nottingham last Saturday, reports team Manager Tim Hannah.
Mohamed Ali finished fifth in the U15s race, which took place over a 4.5K course. He was in the lead until the last half mile or so, but was overhauled in the closing stages. Victory went to Will Barnicoat of Aldershot Farnham & District, whom he had beaten at the Nationals two weeks earlier. The County finished 13th out of 42 teams.
Chauncey Edwards finished 280th in the U17 men’s race after a brave run. There was so much mud, Tim notes, it was a struggle getting to the start line, let alone running around the course, but Chauncey just would not give up. The County finished 15th out of 41.
In the U17 women’s race, Angel Grimes-McTavish was first home for Middlesex, in 42nd overall, while Anisa Ibrahim finished 129th. The County finished eighth out of 39 teams.
Jessica Leane did very well, coming 34th in the U20 women’s race and finishing second in the Middlesex team. Nicola Ravenhill was third to score for Middlesex, finishing 62nd in the same race. The County finished ninth out of 23 teams.
George Kerry was second-to-score for Middlesex in the U20 men’s race, finishing 98th.
