Long-time ESM member Dennis Wraight (pictured in blue) won two gold medals for Slovenia in the M75 category at the Balkan Veteran Games in Thessaloniki last weekend. He ran the 5000m on Friday 18th September, in a sprightly 25:26.9 minutes, which puts him top of the UK rankings this year. The following day he won the 1500m in 6:41.27. Dennis still holds the club record for 5 miles. In 1965 – fifty years ago – he ran the distance in 23:48 at a race in Dagenham. Dennis “retired” to Slovenia with wife Gill years ago, but has since established himself as a very active member of his local community. Several club members have been out to visit them at their home in Dragatuš, in the south of Slovenia.
