Martin Wilson reports on the club outing to Beaconsfield’s multi-terrain 5 miler:

Easter Monday is the day for the now traditional Beaconsfield 5, a trail race around the grounds of the gorgeous Hall Barn estate. As usual ESM supported and took a posse of runners, some seniors but mostly vets.
The weather was really kind and unlike previous years of muddy chaos the trails were firm. This was reflected in most of the times recorded. Mark Kencroft was first home for us, sixth overall and second in his age category and 99 seconds better than last year’s performance. Shona was second home for us in 34:09 another big course PB, with Sarah Gerrie not too far behind. Sarah actually ran slightly faster overall than Shona but got stuck close to the back of a congested start and was far too polite to push her way through (unlike others!)
Running machine Patricia Thomas had another solid race despite streaming with hay fever followed by evergreen Lynn Wilson who achieved first place in her age/gender category.
Martin Wilson, Gurmeet Lally (running her first ever trail race), Sophie Pesticcio and Claire King completed the club ‘s representation. Also big PBs for Sophie and Claire, Claire sporting the yellow and green of ESM rather than her customary fancy dress.
All in all a fabulous morning.
