At last we have a summer season of YDL Athletics to look forward to, despite the late start, reports Tim Hannah.
The season commenced with the first match at Harrow on the 30th May and once again we fielded a composite team with Thames Valley Harriers, competing as Team West London.
ESM did not have a great number of athletes competing and relied on TVH to allow Team West London to finish in Third Place.
The match started with a very strong performance in the 400 metre hurdles. Ealing’s Gus Carter won the U17 Mens A string race in a time of 60.40 and Hussein Zaaiter won the B string in 74.76 in his first outing in a one lap race over sticks.
Multi eventer Katharine Boissiere was 2nd in the U17 Women’s High Jump with a Personal Best height of 1.45. She was also 2nd in the U17 B string 300 race in a time of 44.64.
Seweryn Czapka was 3rd in the U20 Mens 800m A race in a time of 2.03.5 and Charlie Cooney-Quinn came 2nd in the U20 Womens 400m B race.
100m non-scorers from Ealing were Zack Clarke Green timed at 11.37, Hussein Zaaiter at 13.37 and Jariel Matheson 13.67. Joy Choufer ran a non-scoring 200m at 30.01.
