Shona Cowper is a dedicated runner and an exceptional coach who has made a lasting impact on ESM. Every Wednesday night, she leads training sessions with unwavering enthusiasm and professionalism, ensuring that no one slacks off. Her attention to detail is reflected in her structured routines, including the warm-up drill known as the ‘grapevine’—which, if you weren’t paying attention, might just feel more like a Cha-cha-cha routine from a ballroom dance class! Despite the fun, Shona’s focus on form and effort ensures that everyone is ready for the session ahead.
Beyond coaching, Shona has played a pivotal role in organising the Perivale 5, an annual event that has become a staple on the club’s calendar. Her organisational skills and dedication have made the Perivale 5 a highlight for club members year after year.
In addition to coaching and event organising, Shona is a trusted official at many ESM races. Whether she’s timing runners, managing logistics, or ensuring everything runs on schedule, her leadership and infectious energy are crucial to the smooth operation of these events.
Shona was awarded the President’s Trophy in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the club. Her hard work, leadership, and tireless support of ESM’s members have made her an invaluable asset. With her continued dedication, there’s no doubt that ESM will keep racing ahead.
