Stockley Park on Sunday was the venue for the sixth race in our 2016 road race championship, and 22 club members took part. The testing 10k course takes in part of the landscaped business park before heading out across trails through the golf course. First home for the club was […]
We came away with 25 medals at the Middlesex Track & Field Champs held at Lee Valley last weekend, and 20 personal best performances were recorded. Under 17 Laura Stewart set the tone with the club’s first medal in the 300m hurdles. Unfazed by a delayed start due to the […]
We had a successful morning at the Ealing Eagles 10k in Gunnersbury Park on Sunday. Conditions were unseasonably warm, and few achieved personal best times, but the club scooped the men’s team trophy and won three individual awards. Veteran Simon Shaw was in the leading pack from the outset, with […]
Our U20/U17 squad came second in their first match of the Youth Development League at Guildford on Sunday. With the mild dry weather conditions conducive to good performances, the athletes won 13 events and achieved 20 personal bests. The U17 men mustered only one athlete in the field events, but […]
Fifteen ESM members completed marathons this Spring, all of them inside four hours. Half of them tackled the London Marathon on Sunday, where fortunately the snow predicted earlier in the week failed to materialise. Apart from a chilly wind, conditions were good for distance racing, as evidenced by the scintillating time […]
The club was well represented in this year’s Mini Marathon. All 32 London Boroughs compete against each other in different age group categories, and a good proportion of young athletes selected from the Borough of Ealing were ESM club members. (Many of them were seen running at Northala Fields parkrun, […]
Our Under 13/Under 15 squad finished bottom of the table in their first Youth Development League match of the season last Saturday at Perivale. This in no way reflects the enthusiasm and team spirit of those who took part. The squad of 24 was simply too small to fill all […]
Sunday saw the second race in ESM’s 2016 road running championship series, and twelve athletes turned out. Ten-milers are not so common these days, and half the squad were tackling it for the first time. To our knowledge, it was a debut at this distance for Simon Turrell, Louise Prince, […]
The first Southern Athletics League meeting of 2016 on Saturday provided us with relatively few highlights. It was a chilly and damp afternoon, yielding only nine personal best performances, and the club won just 11 events. Although a good-sized squad of 28 athletes made the journey to Winchester, there were […]
