Stockley Park on Sunday was the venue for the sixth race in our 2016 road race championship, and 22 club members took part. The testing 10k course takes in part of the landscaped business park before heading out across trails through the golf course.
First home for the club was Claudio Picco in 11th place overall. Santosh Rai, having been beaten by clubmate Mark Kencroft at last weekend’s race, held him off on this occasion and was next across the line. These three formed the scoring team which finished second. West 4 Harriers took the team trophy, again turning the tables on the previous weekend.
Sarah Gerrie led the women home in eighth with Sarah Harris 150m behind. Leanne Smith was the third scoring team member and again the club was second to West 4.
Highlights included a win for Jane Ruhland in the W50 category, while nine club members achieved personal best times: Malcolm Woolsey, Ian Leslie, Simon Turrell, Philip Prince among the men, and for the women Sarah Harris, Leanne Smith, Kate Fraser, Sarah Holroyd, Sophie Pesticcio and Debbie Gorman.
