Five of our young athletes were selected to represent Middlesex at the prestigious English Schools Track & Field Championships held over two days at Gateshead. The highlight was the bronze medal won by Phoenix Lyon in the 4 x 100m relay, where he led throughout the opening leg. Phoenix also […]
A small squad of just sixteen ESM U17/U20 athletes travelled to Bournemouth for the third YDL match, but they managed to win nineteen events. Conditions were mixed and it was quite cool by the afternoon but there were also eleven personal best performances. All four U20 men competing in the […]
Twenty club members took part in the Ickenham 5 mile race on Sunday, part of our road race championship series. Weather conditions were good, and the course is flat, though the start and finish over 200m of unmown grass in Swakeleys Park was a less popular feature. Nick Steel was […]
Our young athletes tackled their third YDL match of the season last Sunday at Marlow. With the continuing lack of U13 girls, the team was destined to finish bottom of the table, but it was their highest match score so far. The squad of 31 managed 26 personal best performances […]
Ben Waterman and Nick Landeau both competed over 800m at the Jos Verstockt Memorial meeting in Belgium on Saturday. Ben placed third in 1:48.76, just outside his season’s best. Nick was sixth in a season’s best of 1:50.39. The following day, Mel Newbery ran a season’s best of 10:20.48 in […]
Fourteen ESM members travelled to Green Park on Monday to tackle the prestigious Vitality London 10,000. Around 12,000 runners completed the scenic course, which takes in many of the capital’s best known sights. Club members reported that it was well organised for such a large event, but it was hard […]
Our U20/U17 squad continued their fine start to the Youth Development League at Perivale on Sunday, winning 22 events and finishing third. It was mild and dry but an early headwind robbed some of the sprinters of good times. However, the club’s athletes achieved 14 personal bests, mainly in the […]
We are sad to report that a club legend died last week. Mike Blagrove, who ran for Ealing Harriers during the 1950s and 60s, has passed away at the age of 82. He was the club’s first male GB international, competing in the European Championships and Empire Games in 1958. […]
After a lacklustre opening fixture in Winchester last month, we bounced back to win our home match on a warm sunny afternoon at Perivale on Sunday. It was a tight contest, and we finished just a few points ahead of both North Devon and Highgate Harriers. The win came through […]
There was a much better turnout of U13s and U15s in our second Youth Development League match of the season last Saturday at Bedford. The squad was still a little stretched, and many had a busy afternoon competing in multiple disciplines, but there were plenty of personal best performances and […]
