ESM AC athletes put in a solid performance at Woking on Sunday. We share a joint Youth Development League team with our neighbours Thames Valley Harriers in this league. We finished second out of six teams on the day lifting us into third place in the league.
Scoring 426 points we made a big step forward on the 342 points we had scored in our first YDL match helped in large part by support from ESM endurance runners.
Our Under 17 athlete Antonia Carter started us off with her first run out over the 300m hurdles. She came in 2nd with a very respectable time of 54.30. Antonia was also in the B String 100m and 5th in the A String 200m.
Elizabeth Boissiere our other U17 Woman was on form again, coming 2nd in the Shot, Discus and Javelin A strings.
Our Under 20 men racked up a great many points. Nathaniel Ulasi was 3rd in the 100m A race, Kaison Stewart was 3rd in the 200m B race and Kevin Prempah 2nd in the 400m A race.
Isaac Mezey stormed to victory in the 3,000m in a time of 8.58.
In the field Rocky Lee was 1st in the B string Long Jump and 1st in the B string Triple Jump.
In the throws, Sion Jones and Amit Kumar were both 5th in the A and B Discus competition while Kevin Premph was 2nd in the Hammer A and Kaison Stewart winning the Hammer B.
The Under 20 men won both their relays. Kaison, Kevin and Nathaniel were in the winning 4 x 100m squad and Kevin and Nathaniel in the winning mixed 4 x 400m relay.
Due to last minute injuries we did not have any U20 women at Woking.
The U17 Men’s competition saw Leshaun Thorpe-Mclean come 2nd in the 100 A race and win the 200m B race. Dante Easten fought hard to come 3rd in the 800m A race, he also came 2nd in the Steeplechase B race. Max Callender-Galbraith came 3rd in the 3,000m. Hurdle specialist Steve Reid was 1st in the 100m and 400m Hurdles.
Scoring in the field was Conor Chung-Takman coming 2nd in the Shot, Leshaun switched out of his sprint spikes to come 2nd in the Discus.
The U17 relay teams came 2nd inthe 4 x 100m with the help of Conor and Leshaun and Steve Reid was part of the 4 x 400m team that came 3rd.
Non-scoring athletes from ESM included Ashara Prasai, 14.4 in the 100m.
Kevin Premph 11.71 in 100m. Amit Kumar with 12.39 over 100m, Kaison Stewart with 11.75 for the 100m. Conor Chung-Takman pulled out a 100m performance of 11.24 with a legal tail wind, the fastest 100m of any current ESM athlete this year.
With a few more endurance athletes, more women both at U20 and U17 and all our specialist athletes we can put in an even better performance in our final match at Bournemouth on July 6th to rise to second place in the final league placings.
