Middlesex AA Virtual Junior Road Race

ESM’s juniors are currently competing in the Middlesex AA Virtual Junior Road Race, which is taking place between 9th-31st January.

This event, which is the third Middlesex virtual race of the pandemic, is a great chance for the club’s junior athletes to test their fitness and see how they measure up to clubs across the county.

The U11s and U13s are competing over 1.5km and the U15s and U18s over 3km, with the club’s top three performances in each category counting to the team results.

Many of the junior endurance athletes have been getting their virtual races completed on their own, however coaches Debra and Graham have also been running 1-to-1 sessions on Sunday mornings in Blondin Park to coach athletes through their races.

Last weekend’s sessions were definitely ones to remember, as snow fell hard and fast throughout, but this didn’t stop the athletes putting in great runs!

First up was 10-year-old Bilal Yusuf and 13-year-old Kevin Prempeh, who ran admirably in challenging conditions.

12-year-old Junias Lee had a later session and so had to deal with an even heavier cushion of snow, but this didn’t stop him from achieving a hard earned PB.

Full results will be available here as soon as they are released.
