YDL Lower – Perivale – Sat 30 May 2015

It was a hectic start to our home match for team managers Bridie & Denise!

Bride turned up without numbers and Denise had to make a last minute dash to scout camp to nab Kai & Kane. Many thanks to Kirk for speeding down on his bike with the numbers and also to Kay for dashing off to get more vests and pins.

A day which ended with a whole host of PB’s totalling 19 got off to a flying start with a win each for Louis Clow U13 A 75m hurdles and Lucas Sheehan U15 A Hammer. Both athletes displayed tremendous all round ability with Louis also winning LJ and jumping 1.30 in his first HJ competition. Lucas was 2nd in both the 200m & 300m achieving a PB in all his events and also achieving English School qualifying time in the 300m in a time of 37.89secs.

Hats off to our very small team of U13 girls Lisa Ozaki, Kiara Wilson, Caoimhe O’Brien, Fatima Hussein and Camilla Carrozza who covered almost all of events.

We had a strong and enthusiastic bunch of U13 boys. Jeff Hagan gained 2 PB’s in 100m & 200m and Noble Sule a PB in 200.
Our very young middle distance squad continue to impress. In the 800m Milo Chaudry ran a PB of 2.26.2. Marcus West in his first outing and first year U13 ran a very respectable 2.41.69. 10 year old Dylan Rice ran a blistering PB of 5.13.65 to win the 1500m and like a true professional, even checked his watch as he crossed the line! Special mention to Kyriese Willis-Thomas who displayed great team spirit in stepping in at the last minute and finished 3
rd B string 1500m. In the field events the versatile Rhisiart Francois threw a PB of 16.01 in the Javelin.

In the U15 girls, Tia Williamson ran a PB in the 100m and 200m, with Lotttie Horton running an outdoor PB in the 200m. Maryam Hussain had a busy day. She ran a PB in 300m and also competed in the 800m Shot Putt and 4×300 relay. Lucy and Cameron displayed tremendous fitness and versatility. Not long after the 1500m they powered around the bends in the 4×100 like seasoned sprinters and then ran 2 very fast legs of the 4x300m. Unfortunately, a handover error on the change over zone cost them the 4×100 relay.

In her first outing for the club u15 Demi Beavis was very impressive in the field events. She won the Discus and Hammer. Another new comer, Sherice Noel-Allen also impressed in winning the B string Hammer. Always willing to jump in where needed, Leah Kelly was rewarded with a PB in the discus.

In the U15 boys, Daniel O’Sullivan won the 100m and LJ. In the 1500m Patrick Owen and Sudeys Hersi both ran PBs, Patrick 4.49.61 and Sudeys 5.14.08. Despite struggling to keep awake after his week long Scout camp, Kai English finished 3rd in the Discus in a new PB of 20.07m. Tommy Degge finished 2nd in the Javelin in a new PB of 32.95m. Matteo Vao jumped an impressive 1.55 in winning the HJ, narrowly failing 1.60. Newcomer Kaya Davidson came 1st in the B LJ.

In the non scoring events Kyriese Willis-Thomas and Mahiis Hersi both ran PB’s in the 100m and 800m. New comer Alex Mouratidis tried out 800m for the first time and gave a solid performance.

We ended the day in 5th position and now look ahead to our next match on 21st June at Winchester.

Thank you to everyone who competed, coaches and officials.
