Standout Performances from ESM Juniors at SEAA Track & Field

Written by Debra Booker

A number of ESM juniors ventured to South London on the 7th & 8th June 2025 for the SEAA Track & Field age group championships at Crystal Palace.

ESM athletes brought home 6 medals and 3 new club records!

Well done to Emmanuel Ofori-Manteau who came home with 2 silver medals and demolished both U13B 100m and 200m club records with times of 11.67 & 23.89! This puts Emmanuel in the Top 10 All Time for both events in his age group.

Congratulations too to Risen Gloria Balou who won a silver in the U13G 100m and bronze in the 200m (where she set a new PB of 26.77) but just missed out on dipping under the 26.7 ESM record that has stood since 1997!

Risen takes bronze in a super-speedy U13 200m race!

And well done again to U17W Leila Newth who once again increased her PB & club record in the Triple Jump on Saturday – this time to 12.37, despite jumping in pouring rain. This amazing feat moves her up to 7th on the All Time List for her age group. On Sunday she added a silver to her medal cabinet in the Long Jump with a very decent 5.61m.

There were also some strong runs and PBs from a number of the junior middle distance runners.

In U15B Leon Boulting took over 7 seconds off his previous best in the 1500m with a time of 4:28.22, while Owen Stubbins shaved off 0.1 of a second from his old PB with a time of 4:43.88. In the U15B 800m Marcus Muers showed he’s inching closer to a sub 2:10 time with a new best of 2:11.53.

Our next junior club event is the 3rd MYAL match on 28th June hosted by Harrow AC where hopefully we will see plenty more PBs.
