Ealing’s girls secured 4th place, their best ever position in the London Youth Games athletics competition. This is an annual event between the 32 London boroughs for Under 15 athletes. It is held at the old Crystal Palace track, the former home of the London Athletics Grand Prix, giving young athletes their first chance to compete in a big stadium.
Leading the girls was Hannah Thurston who won a silver medal in the Long Jump (see photo). Her jump of 4.90m meant she jumped further than the length of a Bentley Continental.
Amelia Alleyne came 4th in the 100m. Amber Alleyne and Lotte Horton joined Hannah and Amelia in the girls’ Relay team which came 5th.
The boys’ team came 12th overall. Top performers were Phoenix Lyon, finishing 8th in the 100m, and and Daniel O’Sullivan who placed 10th in the Long Jump.
Well done to all who took part. Full scores (but sadly no individual names!) can be downloaded from this page.
