The London Youth Games is a multi-sport competition held annually between the 32 Boroughs of London, and ESM provides a significant proportion of the athletes representing the Borough of Ealing. We were out in force last Saturday morning for the cross country races at Parliament Hill overlooking Central London.

This year, the Borough finished sixth overall in the boys’ races and 11th in the girls’ races. According to the delighted Ealing Team Organiser Jo Valks, the boys finished five places higher than last year while the girls were two places higher.

Jo adds: “We had some fantastic results with the U11 girls finishing in 4th place overall and the U15 boys finishing in 6th place overall, thanks to a fantastic 6th place finish for Seweryn Czapka [ESM]. A special mention must go to Mohamed Ali [ESM] who won a gold medal for the third year running and Abdi Khalif who won bronze in the boys U17 race, despite just moving up into the older category and Elias Ahmed [ESM] and William Aitken finishing in 5th and 11th respectively in the same race. . . well done to all the U17 boys who brought home the team gold medal!! However it is a real team performance so congratulations must go to all, WELL DONE everyone who took part“.

Well done to Mia, who struggled with a tight hamstring but managed to hobble round to the finish. It was a bad day for Lucys too, as Lucy O’Brien pulled up mid-race while Lucy Henson was too ill to take part.
