London Mini Marathon – Old Billingsgate – Sun 26 Apr 2015

ESM was well represented in Sunday’s Mini Marathon. All 32 London Boroughs compete against each other in different age group categories, and the vast majority of young athletes from the Borough of Ealing were ESM club members.

The races are run over the final three miles of the London Marathon course, from the old Billingsgate fish market to the Mall outside Buckingham Palace. Several hundred runners in each race compete in front of thousands of spectators along the route.

With an early start before 9.00am, the first group out were the U17 men. They came 19th as a team, with Mukhtar Farah leading them home in 19th place. Charlie Sillett was next in 40th place. Next up were our most successful team of the day, the Under 15 boys who came 6th. John Fielding led them home in 36th place, Patrick Owen was close behind in 39th. The Under 13 boys were 11th, Sharif Ali Mohamed was 20th followed by Kane Foster in 77th place – just getting the edge on Romeo Beckham in 78th place!

Erica Wallace led the U17 girls home. Her 9th place was the best placing of all the Ealing competitors on the day. In the U15 girls’ race, Nicola Ravenhill was 27th, Laura Stewart 45th and the team 18th overall. The U13 girls came 19th with Lucy O’Brien leading them in, in 43rd.
