ECCA National Cross Country Relay Champs – Mansfield – Sat 03 Nov 2012

Ealing sent up a record number of teams to Mansfield for the National Cross Country Relays.

Races involved teams of three runners negotiating the short course around the lake, through hills in the forest and a long run in down and up a hill up to the finish. This is the most varied and one of the finest Cross Country courses in the UK. After last year’s torrential rain, the sun was shining on this corner of Sherwood Forest this time.

Performance of the day was in the first race, the Junior Women, where Kati Granz was the sixth fastest runner in the whole race. She had Besirat Tesfu in support but unfortunately no third runner.

We had two Junior Men teams. The A team was 19th out of 58. Ben Waterman was only one and a half seconds quicker than Will Pinder on their legs. Also in the A team was Nicholas Landeau. The B team of Mark Cameron, Mohamed Hashi and Duncan Pinder were 50/58.

Under 17 Men had Malik Ouzia, Sam McGonigle and Sam Shindler Glass coming in 22/70, Sam being the quickest.

U15 Boys were the most successful team of the day finishing 16/81. Muhktar Farah was quickest, supported by Aaron Spink and Bradley Pinder.

U15 Girls came in 71/92 with Courtney Marshall, Anna Maude and fastest in the team Erica Wallace, overtaking twelve teams on her anchor leg.

U13 Boys finished in the top half 33/80. John Fielding was quickest supported by terrific runs from Bradley Payne and Patrick Owen.

Finally the U13 Girls only had two runners, Roisin Lynch and Shiva Basu who were on course to be 82/100.
