Congratulations to Maxi Steel, Cameron Thomas, Mia de Vivenot and Kai English, who are all recent recipients of Jack Petchey Awards.
Maxi’s award was for lopping a mighty six seconds from his 800m PB in the Middlesex Track & Field Championships, where he dug in and displayed good improvement in his technique. The funds were used to purchase various items of equipment, including an agility ladder, two 1.75kg discus, hammer wires, and ammunition for starting pistols.
Cameron Thomas was awarded in recognition of her commitment and positive attitude, perseverance and hard work. This includes representing the county in the Southern Cross Country and National Inter County Championships. She has consistently turned out for the club in her 10 years of membership. These funds were mainly used towards an Assistant Coach course for Reece Farren, and the remainder towards a new fridge.
Mia and Kai both received an award from the West London Hammer School. Mia’s was for her continuing improvement in the javelin and shot put, as well as her dedication to training and competing for the club. Kai’s was for his progression in the discus, with a +30m throw using the full 2kg implement. Several new discus have been purchased for the club in various sizes.
