Borough Schools XC – Horsenden Hill – Thu 15 Oct 2015

Horsenden Hill hosted the second of the two Borough schools cross country matches last Thursday. These events are used to select competitors to represent Ealing at the prestigious London Youth Games at Parliament Hill next month. There were once again hundreds of competitors, from 18 secondary schools and 34 primary schools.

Four ESM members won their races. Finn Combe, Nicola Ravenhill and Cameron Thomas all repeated their wins from the first fixture, and this time, Luke Adar also enjoyed victory.

Seven other club members were in the top three: Callum Lambert, Noble Sule, Finn Combe, Laura Stewart, Jessica Harbert, Maryam Hussain and Fiona Coutts. In the Year 9 & 10 girls’ race, Maryam put in a determined finish about 600m out, moving from third into second and chasing Cameron down hard.

Other top-ten placers were Marcus Browne, Ilyes Iman, Kane Foster, Dylan Foster, Marcus West, Daniel O’Brien, Maxi Steel and Roisin Lynch. The Year 9 & 10 boys’ race was won by Tom Bagnall by a large margin, and Ilyes lost out in a three-way battle for the minor medals, despite putting in a strong effort with about 600m to go.

Well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to all the volunteer officials, without whom this event could not have gone ahead. If I’ve missed any club members from the summary below, please let me know on fiona@esm.org.uk
